When anybody buys something expensive, one of the most important considerations is the product's resale value. This is true in all sorts of cases, because people want to be able to make sure that when the time comes that they do not need or want the product anymore, they can sell it at a decent price, either for around par value or sometimes even for a profit.

One of the best examples of the power of a product's resale value is cars. When buying cars, one important factor that weighs in the buyer's decision is how fast a car will depreciate and whether or not somebody might want to buy it at a good price ten years from now. Some car brands, especially those from luxury brand manufacturers, have higher resale values than cars that are marketed as low end.

In the same way, resale value is also a factor when buying and selling timeshares. There are many different kinds of vacation properties. They can be cottages, villas, resorts, condominiums, or simple bungalows. They also vary based on the amenities that they offer. Some may have swimming pools, while others may have rec rooms complete with a billiards table and maybe even some video games. Amenities are very important when people are looking at timeshares, because they want to know what fun things they can do on the property, especially if it starts raining and they cannot go out.

Of course, location is also an important factor. More people will be willing to buy your timeshare if it is of a property that is located in a prime vacation spot, such as Hawaii or the Caribbean. The more tourists go to where your timeshare's property is located, the more chances that you will find someone willing to pay good money for it.
